What is the best pill to take for outdoor/indoor allergies?

Question by Gabby: What is the best pill to take for outdoor/indoor allergies?
I have outdoor/indoor allergies and I absolutely HATE them. Yesterday, I was filming a video. After the video, I got an allergy attack. I used Zyrtec but it didn’t help me out so much. Usually it works, but at times it doesn’t do anything to help me. Any suggestions on what pills to take for my allergies?

I have bad hayfever and pet allergies. I take Loratadine when I need a quick relief and it helps every time. Normally I take Zyrtec like you, but Loratadine is a quick acting antihistamine so it’s great for allergy attacks! My mum has severe pet allergies which trigger her asthma and Benadryl seems to work for her.

What might be causing my allergies in the middle of winter?

Question by Michael G: What might be causing my allergies in the middle of winter?
I live in the Willamette valley in Oregon. (Eugene to be exact)This area is famed for terrible allergy’s. I believe I have allergy’s (and not a cold) but can’t figure out what is causing it. I am in the same house I have living for 4 years so its not household mold. I don’t see anything blooming so can figure out if its pollen. Can anyone please tell me What might be causing this allergy. Before this I have only had allergies in warly summer for a week or so. Maybe a recommendation of how to relieve symptoms without drugs.

What is the best type of allergy pill to take if you have severe allergies and you do shots?

Question by bearshimmy: What is the best type of allergy pill to take if you have severe allergies and you do shots?
I have severely bad allergies.
I currently take Allegra 180mg but I still get symptoms.
Allergens: Most grasses, trees, cats, ragweed.
I take shots for my allergies every 3 weeks currently.
And if my allergies are irritated enough, I tend to go into something like an “allergy shock.”

What is the difference between the common cold and allergies?

Question by dmc81076: What is the difference between the common cold and allergies?
I know this question sounds stupid but when I tell people I have a cold I always hear “It could be allergies.” I know the cold is the rhinovirus and an allergy is not a virus. My question is, are there different symptoms for a cold vs. allergies? I really don’t think I am allergic to anything but I am curious about how people come to that conclusion.
They seem to have the same symptoms, so how do you know what it really is?

Best answer:

Answer by banzai_4
they don’t have the same symptoms–runny nose and sneezing is the only thing they really have in common

a ‘cold’ is produced by a rhinovirus, a microorganism

allergies are produced by a hyper-sensitive immune response of your body to an outside stimulus

there couldn’t be more of a difference, you probably have environmental allergies (pollen, dust, mold, etc.)

edit: umm no…. to the poster two posts down from me, a cold CANNOT be caused by allergies, I don’t know wtf you dug that up from, but that just isn’t true…
